In the wake of Hurricane Helene, our union has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to supporting one another in times of crisis. Thanks to your generous contributions, SMART and our general president, Michael Coleman, have established three distribution centers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. These centers provide immediate assistance to our members.

SMART-TD celebrates ratification of Mechanical Division agreements

The SMART Transportation Division would like to congratulate our Mechanical Division peers for ratifying their new collective bargaining agreements. Their agreements with BNSF, CSXT and Norfolk Southern guarantee wage increases, improvements in paid vacation, stronger health and welfare benefits, and maintain a consistent employee monthly cost-share contribution.

Amtrak pays tribute to fallen workers 

Whether carrying freight or moving passengers, the potential for an on-the-job fatality is always there. A memorial in Washington, D.C.’s Union Station honors the men and women lost while working for Amtrak and ensures they will not be forgotten.

Tentative agreement in lieu of a “National Agreement”

A message from SMART-TD President Jeremy Ferguson clarifying the Tentative Agreements for CSX, NS, and BNSF members: a breakdown of wage increases and enhanced benefits without sacrificing work rules, all while ensuring job security for conductors.

SMART-TD stands in solidarity with Longshoremen as they prepare to strike

Action may close port terminals from Maine to Houston as longshoremen demand their fair share of profits, quality of life and protection from automation. The strike could halt half of the goods that enter or exit the US. While we can’t join them, we can support their action. Stay safe and show our solidarity because we are fighting the same fight.
