Auxiliary of the UTUThe Auxiliary of the UTU is a nonprofit organization whose members include spouses and family members of either SMART Transportation Division (formerly UTU) or Auxiliary of the UTU members. Additionally, employees of SMART TD, retired SMART TD/UTU members and staff of SMART TD State Legislative Boards, General Committees and the Washington, D.C. Legislative office can also become members. The Auxiliary of the UTU is nonsectarian and nonpartisan organization. Membership in the Auxiliary creates an association with people of similar interests, a better understanding of the work performed by the SMART TD membership and the importance of the union to their jobs. As a member you have an opportunity to participate in community affairs and become informed on important legislation affecting railroad, transit, bus and airline families. You can become a member by joining a local subordinate lodge, or if there isn’t a local lodge you can start one. The membership application fee is $5. Local lodge dues are set by lodge vote which on average are $30 – $40 annually. To open a new lodge it only takes 10 members; the charter application fee is $25. Please contact the International office with any questions at 216-521-1161. Kathryn Hastings serves as International President and Kathy Callahan serves as International Secretary/Treasurer.
