On this Memorial Day, we at the SMART Transportation Division solemnly honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the United States of America. This week, SMART-TD led a record-breaking Railroad Day on the Hill, uniting 13 rail unions for over 130 meetings with lawmakers to advocate for rail safety and workers’ rights. Read on to see why this TD-led event is hailed for its strategic coordination and real-world impact.

“We need trade policies that strengthen North American industries, protect union jobs and reinforce the shared success of the United States and Canada. What we are getting instead are policies that weaken the U.S.-Canada relationship, threatening the industries that put union members to work."

On Sept. 23, 2024, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers, Transportation Division (SMART-TD), the American Train Dispatchers Association (ATDA) and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) jointly endorsed Sherrod Brown for U.S. Senate.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown of Cleveland is up for re-election in November, and the SMART Transportation Division PAC has sponsored a video showing his bipartisan work on rail safety. Brown has been endorsed by the SMART Transportation Division, the largest rail union in the U.S.
