{"id":12834,"date":"2011-08-29T04:38:49","date_gmt":"2011-08-29T04:38:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utu.org\/?p=12834"},"modified":"2011-08-29T04:38:49","modified_gmt":"2011-08-29T04:38:49","slug":"bus-companies-ordered-to-post-organizing-message","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smart-union.org\/bus-companies-ordered-to-post-organizing-message\/","title":{"rendered":"Bus companies ordered to post organizing message","gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"text"}]},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smart-union.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/National_Labor_Relations_Board.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12851\" title=\"National_Labor_Relations_Board\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smart-union.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/National_Labor_Relations_Board.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"122\" \/><\/a>WASHINGTON &#8212; Employers, including union and non-union bus companies, covered by the National Labor Relations Act must now post notices on bulletin boards informing employees they have a right under federal law to organize and be represented by a labor union.<\/p>\n<p>The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) issued that final ruling last week after concluding many workers are not aware of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act.<\/p>\n<p>If employers communicate with employees regarding personnel issues via the Internet or an internal company Intranet, they must also post the notice on those sites, ruled the NLRB.<\/p>\n<p><em>The New York Times<\/em> reported that this is the first time, since passage of the National Labor Relations Act in 1935, that employers have been ordered to post notices about employee rights to organize.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis rule ensures that workers\u2019 rights are effectively communicated in the workplace,\u201d said AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka. \u201cIt is necessary in the face of widespread misunderstanding about the law and many workers\u2019 justified fear of exercising their rights under it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ruling does not affect railroads or airlines as they are covered by the Railway Labor Act, which is administered by a separate federal agency, the National Mediation Board.<\/p>\n","protected":false,"gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"html"}]},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON &#8212; Employers, including union and non-union bus companies, covered by the National Labor Relations Act must now post notices on bulletin boards informing employees they have a right under federal law to organize and be represented by a labor union.
