- Industrial and Large Commercial HVAC Duct Work
- Architectural Wall Panels
- Welders
- Shop Fabrication
- Specialty Metal Work

Local 435 Wages and Benefits
SMART 435 sets the area standards in wages and benefits in Northeast Florida. No matter what your skill level, we have a competitive wage package for you. Our members receive an hourly wage with additional benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401K, and pension all provided at no extra cost to you.
Our Benefits don’t come off your hourly wage, they are in addition to what you make on the check!
APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM:
The program includes 8,000 hours (approximately 4 years) of on-the-job training and 180 hours of related instruction each year. SMART Local #435 JATC is approved for Veteran Benefits. Military Veterans who qualify for Veteran benefits may receive benefits directly to them during their term of apprenticeship (www.gibill.va.gov).
Our Pre-Apprentices start at $16.09/HR with an additional $3.07 in benefits for a total wage package of $18.68/HR.
Pre-apprentices receive a $0.50 raise after 6 months and receive single-person healthcare coverage.
Our Apprentices start at $18.10/HR with an additional $10.84 in benefits for a total wage package of $28.94/HR.
Apprentices receive significant increases as they progress through our program.
Our Classified Worker program can earn up to $24.06/HR with an additional $9.29 in benefits for a total wage package of $33.35/HR.
Note: this program is a method employing all individuals including those who did not complete high school and those who can’t commit to the apprenticeship and allows SMART 435 to live up to its commitment to offering work opportunities to all and reduces the barrier of employment that many face.
Advancement is based on experience and raises that occur through the local union’s contract.
Our Journeymen make $28.31/HR on the check with an additional $16.51 in benefits for a total wage package of $44.82/HR.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Have a valid State issued ID
- Have dependable transportation
- High School Diploma or GED (For Apprenticeship Applicants Only)
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Have the desire to learn and works well with others
- Use industry related tools and safety products
- Authorized to work in the United States
** Licensing and welding certifications are a plus**
