Veterans Services

SMART is extremely proud of the men and women of the armed forces for both our nations who have fought to secure our freedoms. To that end, in conjunction with the U.S. military, our SMART Heroes program provides transitioning active-duty service members and veterans with accelerated training for a promising career in the sheet metal industry.

This program, which began at Joint Base Lewis-McCord in Washington state, has since been expanded to Fort Carson in Colorado.

Our aim is to offer this program across the United States and Canada to reach as many veterans as possible.

SMART is also a partner in Helmets to Hardhats, a national, nonprofit program that connects transitioning active-duty military service members, veterans, National Guard and reservists with skills training and quality career opportunities in the union construction trades. This program is designed to help military service members successfully transition back into civilian life by offering them the means to secure a quality career in the construction industry.

The Transportation Division, many officers and members of whom are military veterans themselves, maintains a page dedicated to linking veterans with the services and benefits they have earned.
