Department of Canadian Affairs

As an International Union, we rely on our Canadian Office to support our Canadian membership.  It is also important to know that in Canada we not only represent SMART transportation and sheet metal workers, but we also have a significant membership of union roofers. The SMART Director of Canadian Affairs oversees 24 of our affiliated local unions representing highly-skilled sheet metal workers and roofers across Canada. SMART members in Canada also have their own website where they can view new developments and current affairs in regards to their Union and labor related affairs. Canadian Labour Congress – The Canadian Labour Congress is the largest democratic and popular organization in Canada with over three million members. The Canadian Labour Congress brings together Canada’s national and international unions, the provincial and territorial federations of labour and 137 district labour councils. Canadian Building Trades Department – Helping construction workers receive: fair wages, benefits and job-site standards; secure safe and healthy work site conditions; obtain training and skills upgrading; use their political voice; defend the dignity of all craft work. Union Savings – Union Savings offers members of participating Canadian unions and labour organizations savings, discounts and special features on a wide range of goods and services. A service of the Canadian Union Advantage Benefit Programs, it is administered by leading representatives of the labour movement. Bank of Montreal’s Affinity MasterCard Program – MasterCard offering to Canadian members. Political Action – Federal Rules and Regulations regarding Campaign Financing
